The UbiTEL Co. Ltd. , St.Petersburg, Russia, targeting on the market of wireless sensor networks (WSN), radio frequency identification (RFID) and real-time location system (RTLS). From very beginning a dedicated R&D lab within the Svyaz-Elektro Holding has been formed; at that time it was important to understand and analyze if WSN and RFID technologies are applicable and demanded at the Russian market, economical studies had to be carried out and legislation issues had to be addressed. Moreover, deep technical studies of such new technologies deemed to be crucial since they require pretty high technical knowledge and certainly wide and mixed background of computer science and advanced networking. Later, after a year of successful progress of investigation works, it was a strategic decision to building a new high-tech company integrating sales and R&D in the area of WSN, RFID and RTLS. Taking an advantage of being under wealthy investor, the newly formed UbiTEL Co. Ltd. explores underdeveloped Russian market for WSN and RFID, and settles a new brand over the market. Today UbiTEL Co. Ltd. has over 10 employees, mostly very high skilled networking engineers and software developers. However, up to 10 engineers, managers and sales persons from the Svyaz-Elektro Holding are engaged to participate in projects at UbiTEL Co. Ltd. Ubitel Co. Ltd. is involved into a number of projects with private and governmental companies. As part of the supply and development of equipment UbiTEL cooperates with leading companies from the United States, UK, Finland, Germany, etc.

Gennady Khanin
Founder and CEO of the Svyaz-Elektro Holding . Mr. Khanin has over 25 years of top management experience in Russian telecommunications market mostly rising the company he founded.

Dr. Yuri Semenov
CEO of the Svyaz-Elektro-Projekt Co. Ltd ., a subsidiary company of the Svyaz-Elektro Holding. Dr. Semenov has over 20 years of top management experience in different companies including Alcatel. Before managerial career Dr. Semenov was a Dean of the Switching Telecommunication Networks Faculty at the State University of Telecommunications (St.Petersburg, Russia).

The Svyaz-Elektro Holding was founded in the very beginning of 1990, its headquarter is located in St.Petersburg two branches are situated in St.Petersburg and Moscow. Nowadays Svyaz-Elektro Holding has over 300 employees. The annual revenue of the holding in 2006 exceeded USD 19M. The profile of the holding companies includes research, development, design and installation of various networking equipment and networks, wired and wireless. The Svyaz-Elektro Holding has very strong record of governmental and private contracts completed over more than 15 years.
